Efflorescence Neutraliser

Description
ALIXIR Efflorescence Neutraliser is a, high-performance treatment engineered to eliminate white salt deposits from natural stone, concrete, brick, and mortar. Efflorescence occurs when soluble salts migrate to the surface of porous materials, leaving unsightly mineral residues. This advanced formulation penetrates deeply into the substrate to break down these cementitious and mineral deposits, rendering them completely washable with water.

The biodegradable and non-corrosive composition is safer to handle than traditional acid-based cleaners and is specifically designed not to alter the surface colour, porosity, or appearance. Its professional-grade safety profile makes it suitable for use on projects involving delicate substrates, including metals, glass, plastics, and painted surfaces. ALIXIR Efflorescence Neutraliser provides a highly effective, compliant solution for long-term efflorescence control without the need for post-treatment neutralisation.

How it works

ALIXIR Efflorescence Neutraliser utilises a targeted chemical reaction that penetrates the capillaries of porous materials to address salt migration at its source. By breaking down the bond of cementitious and mineral deposits, it converts insoluble salts into a soluble state that can be easily rinsed away. Its unique non-corrosive chemistry ensures that while salts are neutralised, the underlying mineral structure of the stone and surrounding architectural elements, such as glass and metal, remain unaffected.

Application Instructions
Always perform a trial application on a small, hidden area first to confirm suitability. Shake concentrate well and dilute with water according to contamination levels: use 1:1 for heavy deposits, 1:5 for medium contamination, and 1:10 for light mineral staining.

Apply the solution with a low-pressure spray or brush and allow the formulation to act for up to 60 minutes. Re-apply if necessary, avoiding drying between applications to maintain chemical efficacy. After a minimum of 24 hours, rinse the substrate thoroughly with a 1:50 diluted water solution of the product itself and scrub with a stiff broom. Protect the treated surfaces with ALIXIR Stone Protector to prevent future salt migration. Always consult the MSDS before use.

Coverage Rate
Figures are approximate and provided as a general guideline. Actual consumption is determined by the severity of the salt deposits and substrate porosity:
Heavy Efflorescence (1:1 Dilution): Approximately 5–10m² per Litre of diluted solution.
Light Mineral Staining (1:10 Dilution): Approximately 50–100m² per Litre of diluted solution.

Always perform a trial on a small hidden area first to ascertain more precise coverage for the specific project.

Equipment Cleaning

Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with water.

Storage & Shelf Life

Store in a dry place, away from frost and heat, in a temperature between 5°C and 30°C. Shelf life is 24 months from the production batch date when kept in the original unopened container.

Recommendations & Curing

Always wear protective gloves, eye protection, and appropriate clothing during application. Do not apply if rain is expected within 4 hours. While the product does not require a separate neutraliser, thorough rinsing is essential to ensure all dissolved salts are removed from the surface pores. Do not apply during rain or frost, or when surface and air temperatures are below 5°C or above 30°C. For long-term prevention of salt return, ensure the surface is fully dry and treat with an appropriate ALIXIR Stone Protector
