Description
ALIXIR Rust Remover is a high-performance, powerful acidic treatment engineered to eliminate severe rust stains and iron-oxide discolouration from natural stone, concrete, and porous surfaces. This advanced formulation is specifically developed to penetrate the substrate, chemically converting complex iron particles into a soluble form that can be safely rinsed away, restoring the material's original aesthetic.
The specialist, rapid-acting composition is designed for effective oxidation removal. While an acid, its targeted action is safe for use on many specific architectural elements including stainless steel, when used as directed. ALIXIR Rust Remover provides a rapid-acting, compliant solution for the professional remediation of unsightly oxidation stains, though a trial application is always essential to confirm substrate compatibility
How
it works
ALIXIR Rust Remover utilises a highly effective reducing agent within a specialist acidic base that targets and chemically converts insoluble iron-oxide (rust) into a soluble salt form. This reaction neutralises the stain at the source, allowing the iron particles to be easily rinsed away with water. The formulation is a powerful acid treatment designed for specific oxidation removal; therefore, a trial application is essential to ensure compatibility with sensitive substrates like marble or limestone
Application Instructions
Always perform a trial application on a small, hidden area first to confirm suitability and dwell time. Use neat or dilute 1 part product : 10 parts water. Apply directly to the rust stain using a brush or low-pressure spray, ensuring complete coverage. The stain will begin to discolour as the chemical reaction takes place. Allow the formulation to work for 5–15 minutes (or until the stain is gone); re-apply if necessary, ensuring the product does not dry on the surface. Rinse the area thoroughly with clean water to remove all neutralised residues. Always consult the MSDS and wear appropriate PPE before use.
Protect surfaces with ALIXIR Stone Protector once dry.

Coverage Rate
Figures are approximate and provided as a general guideline. Actual consumption is determined by the severity of the oxidation and substrate porosity:
Targeted Treatment: Approximately 4–8m²/Litre (coverage is highly variable depending on stain size).
Always perform a trial on a small area first to ascertain true consumption for the specific project
Equipment Cleaning
Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with water.
Storage & Shelf Life
Store in a dry place, away from frost and heat, in a temperature between 5°C and 30°C. Shelf life is 24 months from the production batch date when kept in the original unopened container.
Recommendations & Curing
Always wear protective gloves, eye protection, and appropriate clothing during application. Do not mix with any other chemical treatments. It is critical that the formulation is not allowed to dry on the substrate during the remediation process. Do not apply during rain or frost, or when surface and air temperatures are below 5°C or above 30°C. Due to the powerful acidic nature of the treatment, always perform a trial application on a small, hidden area to confirm material compatibility. Once the oxidation is removed, rinse the surface thoroughly and, once fully dry, treat with ALIXIR Stone Protector to inhibit future staining.
